Can You Get Headaches By Doing exercise?

Everybody understands that working out regularly is something you must do if you expect to lose weight. It does not matter what others might say; you can't lose weight just by sitting around. What not a large amount of people know, however, is that sometimes working out can literally be a pain. You are usually ready for muscle cramps and aches in your back and in your joints, but are you prepared for exercise induced headaches? Sadly, most people are afflicted by exercise activated headaches these days but the good news is that you can treat them and prevent them. Here is how to do that.

Drink a lot of water-you likely already know that this is vital on a regular basis, but it becomes even more important when you work out. Headaches will often be brought on by dehydration and dehydration can manifest after a workout that has been successful and sweaty (sweat drains the body of fluid). Drinking beneficial amounts of water before your work out, during your work out and after you have finished working out can do quite a bit to help you keep the headaches at bay. This may also make it easier to stop the headaches that turn up after the workout has been finished for a while too.

Be certain you do a complete warm up and cool down. Just leaping right into a vigorous workout can cause headaches because the blood will start rushing in the direction of the parts of your body that are doing the work and away from your head and brain. When you complete a thorough warm up, your body will be able to slowly but surely improve the blood flow to the areas that need it and then redistribute it back during your cool down which gives the brain time to adapt to the flow changes.

Practice correct breathing methods during your workouts and weight liftings. Your brain wants oxygen to effectively function and to survive. Most of us instinctively hold our breath whenever we are doing something difficult but that just reduces the oxygen that is available for your brain. Practicing proper breathing techniques enables you to keep a steady flow of oxygen to your brain and keep the headaches at bay.

If you realize that the headaches are going on frequently and the things that you have been trying usually are not helping you prevent them, you need to talk to your doctor. If your workouts or eating habits are contributing to your regular headaches then your physician will be able to help you figure this out. You may need to take medication to help keep the headaches under control. Your physician is able to help you figure out how to continue exercising and losing weight without having to fight off headaches.
